Smart Carb Type #1 -  High - Fibre Carbs
  • These are most vegetables, most fruits, legumes (beans), lentils etc
Smart Carb Type #2 -  Starchy Carbs
  • These are your sweet/startchy fruits (bananas, plantains, figs, dates, starchy tubers (sweet potatoes potatoes), whole grain rice (brown, wild, white), oats
Not So Smart -  Highly Processed Carbs
  • These are pastries, cookies and bars, sweets, fruit drinks, soft drinks, dried fruits

How To Make Smart Carb Choices
  • Replace oatmeal , toast, potatoes, rice and pasta with 1 - 2 cups of veggies
  • Avoid ALL refined carbohydrates
  • Save high-carb whole foods for post-workout meals
Smart Substitutions
  • Replace toast with fruit and veggies
  • Replace rice and pasta with sauteed veggies
